Amber Anwar is a resident of Bhittai Colony in Karachi. She manages a household of five, including herself, her husband, and their three children. Her husband holds an average job from which he earns an insignificant income. She is barely able to manage the day to day household expenses with the limited income provided by her husband. Amber used to have a bed bug medicine making machine, from which she used to produce medicine for bed bugs. She sold that medicine to different retailers or pest control companies. The earnings from the sales of the medicine used to provide her some cushion against her growing domestic expenditures.
However, some time ago, the machine was damaged somehow, and Amber’s single relief for managing her household expenses was lost. Her husband’s income did not allow for her to get the machine repaired, let alone buy a new one. Fortuitously, she got to know about Akhuwat’s interest free microfinance program. She has now requested for a loan to purchase a new bed bug medicine making machine. Amber is determined to restore her source of income and improve her overall household earnings. She wishes to provide a better living standard for her family.
