Omar is a native of district of Mardaan, located in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He is married and has two children. He grew up in a poor family, which did not entitle him to a good education. With the responsibility of a family bearing down on him, he was the sole earning hand in his home. He used to switch between various blue collar jobs in search for a better income. There came a time when he was left jobless for months on end. He became agitated and distressed. Omar became disappointed with himself that he was unable to provide adequately for his family. He was tired of working pointlessly at small hourly jobs and wished to start his own business. But the lack of startup capital was a glaring obstacle.
Amidst all his predicaments, his friend told him about Akhuwat’s free microfinancing program. He took Omar to their branch office where the latter explained his situation in detailed. He was told to submit his application for processing. Within days his request was approved and he was authorized a loan of 20,000. Putting his faith in Allah, Omar put up a market stall, selling vegetables. When his first day’s income amounted to 1,500 he was exceptionally delighted. His business eventually took off and he started paying off his loan. after completely paying back his first loan, he is now requesting for a second one worth 30,000 rupees. He will buy stock and hopes could grow his business further.
