Pathani Bibi is a young and ambitious woman, aged 20. She is married and has three children, two of whom go to school. She, along with her husband, works for a living to provide sustenance to her family. Her husband does shuttering for under construction houses and earns 12,000 rupees in a month. Pathani herself is an embroidery artist and makes intricate embroidery patterns on women’s clothes. She mostly does hand embroidery with the help of silk threads, sequins, pearls and decorative mirrors. She earns around 4,000 rupees monthly from her work.
Pathani is now planning to improve her work and wishes to increase her productivity. She intends to buy increased quantities of fabric and other embroidery supplies like fancy silk threads, pearls, sequins and mirrors etc. Since she lacks adequate funding, she has requested for a loan. She is fairly confident that she can improve her income and add more to her family’s earnings.
