Shakir Ali is 33 and married. He lives with his wife and two children in a small town of interior Sindh called Tandoo Allah Yar. None of his children go to school, at present. He is the only earning hand in his family and runs a tailoring shop in the neighborhood. He stitches made to order ladies’ clothes. His regular customers are the women from around the area. He manages to earn around 15,000 rupees per month, on average.
As Shakir is the only earning member in his family, his income often makes it difficult for him to provide sufficiently for his family. To improve his earnings, he now plans to expand his business. He now plans to sell ready to wear clothes from his shop as well. Since he lacks a sufficient investment, he has requested for a loan. He will buy some ready-made clothes from Hyderabad city at wholesale prices. This will enable him to improve his profits and eventually earn better for his family.
