Shazia Rashid is a dedicated and hardworking individual of 32 years. She is married and has four children; two sons and two daughters. Her eldest son and daughter are receiving education currently. The sole source of income for her and her family is a small tailoring business run by herself and her husband. Both she and her husband design and stitch clothes for individual customers in their neighbourhood. They often take orders from different boutiques and retailers as well. Their combined income reaches up to 15,000 rupees a month.
However, they now wish to expand their business. They primarily took a loan to purchase a new sewing machine and enhance their efficiency. Having successfully completed that loan, they are looking forward to expand their business even more. They have requested for a second loan to purchase another sewing machine and some fabrics to start up a boutique of their own. Shazia figures that they will most likely be able to earn better this way. Both she and her husband wish to give better living conditions to their children.
