Siraj is an auto mechanic by vocation. He is married and his family comprises of his mother, wife and four children. He used to work at someone’s workshop for minimum wages. His monthly income barely amounted to 15,000 rupees a month. The common domestic expenditures of his household alone reached over 10,000 rupees a month. The rest was spent on other things like medical bills and children’s education. He was barely able to provide sufficiently for his family.
One day he came to know of Akhuwat from his friends. They suggested him to apply for a loan to start up his own business. At first Siraj was timid as he had no business experience at all. When he approached Akhuwat’s nearest branch, their staff and members guided him through the loan procedure as well as helped him out with the specifics to start up his own business. Almost three years ago, with the first loan that he received, Siraj started his own workshop. Initially the business was slow but it gradually picked up. His earnings have improved steadily, over time. Wanting to do even better he has now applied for a second loan to purchase some spare parts to enable him to reduce his costs and attract more customers. He aspires to earn better profits and improve his income to provide a better living standard for his family.
