Saleem Haider is a young individual of 22 and lives in Shah Khalid Colony in Sukkur. He is single and lives with his parents, a brother and a sister. His father is old and is unable to work for a living anymore. Therefore, Saleem and his brother both work to earn a living for their family. His brother is a driver and earns a modest salary each month. He himself operates a small grocery store in his neighbourhood. A few years ago, when he started the store, Saleem did not have enough resources to stock his shop. He was extremely distressed as he was unable to contribute to his family’s income. He then got to know about Akhuwat and their interest free microfinance program. He decided to put in his request for a loan. He received about 15,000 rupees to purchase inventory for his shop, and was able to start up his business.
Saleem’s business and earnings improved gradually, and he now earns a satisfactory income for his household expenses. However, he now wishes to improve his business even further. He wants to take out another loan in order to increase the amount and variety of products in his shop. Saleem is confident that he will be able to attract more customers and earn a handsome profit this way.
